List a Week No. 4

I'm trying to catch up on my 52 Lists by Moorea Seal, so you will be getting a couple this week.  Week Four is "List Your Current & Future Goals & Dreams."  This was a fun one!  It even brought some new goals to my attention.

Easter flowers :)

You can see the rest of my lists here.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful day!  I sure did.  My family met at my Mom's and we had a wonderful Sunday afternoon, complete with hilarious stories and fantastic food.  I love when we get together.  It always puts a smile on my face for the rest of the day!

I of course used Easter as an excuse to get cute!

Outfit: Night Out Edition

Spring is finally here!!  Adam and I enjoyed the fantastic weather  yesterday by hitting up a baseball game downtown with some friends.  I thought I would take full advantage of the weather and bust out some new Modcloth purchases.

First shot of my new tattoo!

Hope you guys are getting to enjoy the great weather wherever you are!

List a Week No. 3

Well, I am definitely going to need to step it up if I ever think I'm going to catch up on these lists!  As an effort to be more mindful and thankful to myself, I am participating in Moorea Seal's project, 52 Lists, in which you write a list a week on different aspects of your life.  Week 3's list was kind of difficult for me.  It was "Things You Should be Proud of."  I don't know about you, but I'm not really one to flaunt my stuff.  But, I think I did okay!  Without further ado, here are the things I'm proud of:

You can check out the rest of my lists here.

Music Monday

Happy Monday!  In honor of the Supreme Court's review of human rights this week, I give you Macklemore and Mary Lambert's "Same Love," a beautifully worded and wonderful song, in my opinion.

Poppers!

Happy Sunday everyone!  I had an extremely lazy Saturday after a great Friday night at Barrister's Ball (tantamount to Law School Prom).  I'll be putting up some pictures from there soon, but for now I just thought I'd give you...poppers!  Or, a popper.

I have always wanted to try one of these things.  I know that in England, they do poppers on Christmas and Boxing Day.  Two people pull on each end to make it pop and little toys and confetti and stuff come out.  I saw one at my friend Alex's house and I couldn't help myself!

Sadly, it did not work, but I did get a cute message out of it.

Enjoy your last day of the weekend!

Fish Fry Friday!

Have you guys ever been to a fish fry?  I've learned that this is a midwestern thing.  Churches have fish fries during Lent, and you bundle up, grab some buddies and a cooler, and stand in line for long periods of time drinking beer in order to eat some fried goodness.  We recently went to the Holy Name Fish Fry, which is probably one of the best in town, and the most crowded, but it's so much fun!  (As you can see, Ron's excited)

This might be enough beer for one man's wait...

It gets pretty cold.  Dan and Tara looked a little homeless!

Holy Name has a thrift shop in the basement that stays open during the Fish Fry.  We found a couple gems!

The lines are really long, but once you get into the building, it's so nice to warm up for a bit!

Dan and I ran into one of our old teachers volunteering there! (as you can see, the crowd is huge)

After the Fish Fry, we went back to Alex's for some drinks at the bar, which was reserved for us :)

Music Monday

Happy Monday!  I know sometimes they can be rough, but I think that if you listen to the song below, it might make your day a little better.  I know it always puts a smile on my face!!  :)

And if you've never listened to Noah Gundersen before, I would thoroughly recommend checking him out!  He's fantastically wonderful, I promise.

List a Week No. 2

As I posted earlier, I've decided to do Moorea Seal's 52 Lists, and I really have to catch up!  I started a bit late, so I'm only on list two (in March, oops!), but I'll get there!  Hopefully before December...  Anyway, here's my List Two:

Chicken Salad

With spring fast approaching, I am longing for the picnics and cookouts of warmer weather, instead of the bitter cold and snow we've been seeing.  So I decided I would have a little indoor "picnic" and make myself some chicken salad!  It's so simple, but so dang delicious!!

This recipe is really straightforward, and there is room to make it your own.  Adam hate anything mayo related, so I always make his with greek yogurt, but I like mine with the tanginess of miracle whip light.  Plus, the ingredients are all healthy and good for you!

Recipe
-  Two fully cooked chicken breasts
-  1/4 cup dried cranberries
-  1/3 cup walnuts
-  1/2 cup of celery
-  1/2 tsp of lemon juice
-  1/2 tsp of salt
-  1/2 tsp pepper
-  1/2 cup of Miracle Whip Light or Greek Yogurt

1)  Roughly chop up cranberries, walnuts, and celery.  Set aside in large mixing bowl
2)  Cut chicken breasts into 1/4-1/2 inch pieces (whatever size you would like for your salad)
3)  Put chicken into mixing bowl with dried ingredients.  Add the rest of the ingredients and mix until thoroughly coated.
4)  Chill and enjoy!

List a Week No. 1

One of my New Year's resolutions was to be more thankful for what I have in my life.  Sometimes I'm a little too hard on myself (I think we all are) and I wanted to put forth an effort to record the good things I take for granted so I could have a tangible reminder.  Low and behold, I came across a wonderful project by Moorea Seal called "52 Lists."  Each week, there's a different list to write, and at the end of the year you can put them in a book or just look over them and reminisce.  What a great idea!  It's perfect!

I'm obviously coming to the game a little late, so you'll probably be getting a few lists here and there throughout the weeks.  It was really fun to get started.  The first week was "Words That Touch Your Soul."  Here mine are:

What do you guys think? Would you make a weekly list?  Do you already?  Have a great Thursday!

What I'm Listening To

I love Bon Iver.  His music is so peaceful and calming.  Have you heard the cover of Skinny Love by Birdy?  I'm quite infatuated with this song...I could literally listen to it five times a day!  And can you believe she is only 16?!  So jealous!

Benson First Friday: March Edition

Last Friday was March 1st, so it was once again time for Benson First Friday!  As always, it did not disappoint, and the night was filled with laughter and awesome art.  Seriously, my cheeks hurt the next day!

I walked by a wonderful new antique/thrift shop on the southwest side of Benson.  I don't know the name of it, but it had the cutest window collections!

I mean, don't you want this chair?!

Then I made my way down to the Benson Theater to see what creativity was going on there.  They painted over an old mural and added this guy.  I think it's fairly accurate :)

A friend of mine, Bailey Ferguson, recently lived in Copenhagan, and her art was a reflection of her stay there.

I ran into a couple fools at Burke's and enjoyed their company for the night!  How can you not love this face?

Ladies to the green light, please!

The BFF masterminds, enjoying the end of the night!

Capped off the evening closing up the Sweatshop, which had boxing as their main event.

Pow! Smash! Bang!  Hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week!!
