My Bridal Shower

This past Saturday, my wonderful sister in law threw my bridal shower!  It was such a blast!  I should have taken pictures of the food (which was delicious), but I got photos with some of my favorite ladies!

Isn't my mom a hottie?

Corey brought Marleigh and Tierney, and they were the best helpers!

My sister-in-laws can't be beat

Ladies Camp Group!!

Aren't my mom and her sisters the cutest?

I feel so blessed to have such wonderful women in my life.  They have helped fill this whole process with fun and not stress.  Thanks to everyone who made Saturday such a great day!!

Music Monday Revived

Have you ever heard of Cloud Cult?  I heard of them a long time ago, but didn't really pay attention to them until I heard an NPR story about them a year ago.  The article focused on their (then) new album, and how their personal lives and tragedy had played into their songs.  The lead singer's two year old son died in his sleep one night, and the singer used songwriting to cope.
The last thing that he said in the story really struck me, and it's stayed with me all this time.  Probably because I was nearing the one year anniversary of my father's death.
He had become enthralled with the science behind death, and thermodynamics.  He said, "Basically, what it says is that energy cannot be destroyed; it can only be transformed.  So any kind of energy that you put out there never goes away. Everything that we did together, every moment that we had together, everything that he felt and everything that I felt for him still resonates out there in the universe. And I refuse to believe anything less than the idea that I'll somehow be with my son again."
I feel the same about my dad.  I just would never have been able to put it into such eloquent words.  Reading them still brings tears to my eyes.  But I am thankful that someone put words to my thoughts.

Flashback Friday: November BFF

Adam has been poking fun of me recently, since I have started posting pictures from recently, when I still have pictures to share from last year!  So in order to keep up with what I've got and still share everything I want, I have decided to start Flashback Friday!  I'll play catch-up this way, and then start sharing older pictures that I haven't pulled out of iPhoto in a while :)

So these photos are from (I believe) November Benson First Friday.  It was the Friday after Halloween, so everyone was still getting dressed up and having fun.  Adam and I decided to head up to the Benson Brewery for dinner, and we were there for the tapping of the keg!!  It was pretty cool.

After dinner we met up with some friends and headed to the Satchel Grande show at the Waiting Room.  If you haven't heard of Satchel Grande, you're missing out.  They are a seventies funk band that gets everyone dancing.  They never disappoint!

Ladies' Craft Night Version 2.0

I started Ladies' Craft Night a few months ago to break up the week and enjoy some crafty time with my ladies, duh! We usually keep it pretty simple, bring your knitting, cross-stitching, what have you, and just drink some wine and chat.  But this week, we switched things up a bit!

One of my more artistic friends painted a picture and were created our own painting and wine night!  She taught us how to paint the picture, and we each painted it in our own style!

Pig had to get involved, of course.  Luckily, he didn't walk through any of the paint, though!

The paintings turned out so great!!  I can't wait to figure out where I'm going to hang it.  I'm an artist!!

Let's Play Catch-up Part 2: Halloween

Most Halloweens, I try to go over to Corey's mom's house, because it's her favorite holiday and she decorates her house to the max!  It's so much fun to see the kids and watch the hoards of costumes that come across her front porch.
Getting all four of these kids into one picture is an impossible task, so while this is slightly blurry, it's the best I've got!

Tierney snapped a picture of my cowgirl costume, and Ashbury was dressed up as a gnome!!  It was so dang cute!

We had game night later in the week, and Olive was just too cute to pass up.  She had eaten some sort of sticky mess and looked like a homeless gypsy child.  Her parents cleaned her up soon after, don't worry.

And then there's my furry child, who has taken to turning his bed upside and hiding underneath it, or running while he's underneath it, which is hilarious.

Let's Play Catch-up Part 1: We Passed the Bar!

In September, Adam and I found out we passed the bar!  We are both full fledged practicing attorneys.  It's pretty exciting!  Here are a few pictures from the day we got sworn in to the Nebraska bar.

Sarah came down and joined us for the swearing in, and for the festivities afterward.

In October, the whole family got together for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Walk called "Light the Night."  It was freezing, but we always put a team together for my dad!

North Omaha Pottery Tour (with wine)

End of year catch-up time.  In October I believe, I went on a pottery/wine tour with two of my favorite ladies, and some other awesome chicks.  It was so much fun!  Second year in a row that Corey and I went, and it's never failed to make for a fantastic Sunday!

The first place is about 45 minutes outside of Omaha, and it's always at that perfect time in fall when the leaves are changing and Nebraska country looks beautiful.

It was a pretty cold, but we bundled up and kept ourselves warm with a flask of good old fashioned whiskey!

These two were a blast.  We pretty much just laughed our asses off most of the time!

One of the last stops on the tour is at a house north of Omaha.  Literally dream house - wonderful old house on a couple acres with tree cover everywhere!!

Can't you just imagine cozying up in this living room, or drinking your morning coffee on this porch?!

We finished up at the Mill in Florence District.  It's owned by the most wonderful lady, and the artwork upstairs is always worth the trip!
