Benson First Friday: May Edition

Last Friday was the first Friday of May, and thus it was Benson First Friday!  Corey and I had a girl's night out and enjoyed it up in one of our favorite Omaha neighborhoods :)  We had a glass of wine at Jake's Cigar Bar  while awaiting our reservations at Lot 2.

If you haven't been to Lot 2 yet, I would thoroughly recommend it!  Their food is so fresh and they aim for local when they can.  Also, the atmosphere is wonderful and so are the people who work there!

After dinner we headed over to Petshop, a local gallery, for the art opening of Stephanie Purcell.  Her work was like nothing I've ever seen.  it was a mix of relief printing, line drawing, and a play with light and space. Very unique!

Jamie (other artist/owner) with a couple Benson guys :)

This is the magnificent Stephanie herself :)  She graciously posed for a portrait for me!

Did you have a fun weekend?

Benson First Friday: Outfit Edition

Friday night, my friend Corey and I went to Benson for the monthly Benson First Friday art crawl and to celebrate the end of my hardest final.  It was a fantastically fun girls night out!  I really love getting my girlfriend date nights every once in a while :)  Anywho, pictures of the fun-filled evening will be appearing soon, but here's a peek at a new addition to my ever-growing dress collection!

Music Monday

Right now I am looking outside a second floor window at budding trees and blue skies, and all I can do is hope that this week goes by fast!  I have one more test and a few more papers to write, then I am free as a bird (at least until bar prep starts)!  So I will just say a quick hello and leave you with one of my favorite artists: Regina Spektor.  Her voice is so unique, and her songs are blissful, uplifting and just resonate with me.  I hope you enjoy and have a great week!!

Kelley's Housewarming/Birthday Party

I most definitely spoke too soon.  Winter must have seen my posts and decided I need to be taught a lesson, because I am looking out my window at freezing rain and hail.  It's the first of May!  Shouldn't it start being a little bit nice?

This weekend was gorgeous, which was great because my brother and sister-in-law decided to have a housewarming/birthday party for Kelley!  The weather was fantastic, and we spent most of the time out on the decks (they have two!) and playing washers in the backyard.  Kelley's brother, Kyle, even surprised her by flying in from Denver that day.  It was really sweet!

My mom spent the majority of her time there schooling my brother (and me) in washers and stealing babies.

Let me introduce you to the hillbilly way to cool an open beer.  And pose for a picture when you don't want to.

Aren't my brother handsome when they try to be?

A group of my favorite ladies :)

After my mom left, we got to spend some time with the adorable baby, Olive.  She is so cute!!

And, the birthday girl with her surprise!
