Flashback Friday: November BFF

Adam has been poking fun of me recently, since I have started posting pictures from recently, when I still have pictures to share from last year!  So in order to keep up with what I've got and still share everything I want, I have decided to start Flashback Friday!  I'll play catch-up this way, and then start sharing older pictures that I haven't pulled out of iPhoto in a while :)

So these photos are from (I believe) November Benson First Friday.  It was the Friday after Halloween, so everyone was still getting dressed up and having fun.  Adam and I decided to head up to the Benson Brewery for dinner, and we were there for the tapping of the keg!!  It was pretty cool.

After dinner we met up with some friends and headed to the Satchel Grande show at the Waiting Room.  If you haven't heard of Satchel Grande, you're missing out.  They are a seventies funk band that gets everyone dancing.  They never disappoint!

Benson First Friday: May Edition

Last Friday was the first Friday of May, and thus it was Benson First Friday!  Corey and I had a girl's night out and enjoyed it up in one of our favorite Omaha neighborhoods :)  We had a glass of wine at Jake's Cigar Bar  while awaiting our reservations at Lot 2.

If you haven't been to Lot 2 yet, I would thoroughly recommend it!  Their food is so fresh and they aim for local when they can.  Also, the atmosphere is wonderful and so are the people who work there!

After dinner we headed over to Petshop, a local gallery, for the art opening of Stephanie Purcell.  Her work was like nothing I've ever seen.  it was a mix of relief printing, line drawing, and a play with light and space. Very unique!

Jamie (other artist/owner) with a couple Benson guys :)

This is the magnificent Stephanie herself :)  She graciously posed for a portrait for me!

Did you have a fun weekend?

Benson First Friday: March Edition

Last Friday was March 1st, so it was once again time for Benson First Friday!  As always, it did not disappoint, and the night was filled with laughter and awesome art.  Seriously, my cheeks hurt the next day!

I walked by a wonderful new antique/thrift shop on the southwest side of Benson.  I don't know the name of it, but it had the cutest window collections!

I mean, don't you want this chair?!

Then I made my way down to the Benson Theater to see what creativity was going on there.  They painted over an old mural and added this guy.  I think it's fairly accurate :)

A friend of mine, Bailey Ferguson, recently lived in Copenhagan, and her art was a reflection of her stay there.

I ran into a couple fools at Burke's and enjoyed their company for the night!  How can you not love this face?

Ladies to the green light, please!

The BFF masterminds, enjoying the end of the night!

Capped off the evening closing up the Sweatshop, which had boxing as their main event.

Pow! Smash! Bang!  Hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week!!

Benson First Friday: February Edition

Benson First Friday was this weekend (because it was the first Friday of the month, of course), and it definitely did not disappoint.  The Instagrammies were held at the Sydney, so we all got to vote for hashtagged photos from different categories.  There was wonderful music everywhere for the ears, and fantastic artwork for the eyes.

Our first stop was the Omaha Bicycle Co. down the street from Dan's house.  Unbeknownst to us, there was this hilarious band playing called the Polka Police.  They played covers, my favorite of which was there own version of Gangnam Style called "Nacho Vegan Style."

I got artsy (or tried)

The car dealership seemed to be trying their hand at art, but it was just creepy

Then we wandered down to the PS Collective where our talented friend Josh Audiss was showing his work.  I bought a beautiful painting of an owl who I promptly named Hubert :)

I liked his new stamp :)

Artist's Portrait!

Lovely ladies enjoying themselves (I apologize for the blurriness)

I'm a child and I thought this was funny.  Someone erased the "S."

Tara pulled a cow phone out of her purse, and countless cow puns ensued.  It was udderly ridiculous.

Newlyweds!

The bartender had a new tattoo of a Nebraska Pinup Girl, corncobs and all!  I was jealous :)

This picture doesn't really do the scene justice, but the Sweatshop Gallery had a Club No Quiet art auction and a band playing.  The place was so packed!

Some of the artwork up for auction.

A few of the Sweatshop Guys :)

And the night wouldn't have been complete without a little Bad Country at the Barley Street Tavern!  By far one of my favorite local bands.  They definitely get your feet moving!

Artsy again

Nothing like a little High Life to spice up the night!

Dancing the night away with a smile on her face :)

Tried to get a full band shot

Can't get enough of the High Life!

Chuck strumming away

Probably one of my favorite pictures from the night

We made our way down to the Sydney for the awards ceremony, but it was so dang packed I don't even know who won anything!

Sitting outside on a not-so-chilly night

Isn't she lovely?

For some reason, Dan had a gold phone (maybe to match his wife's cow phone?)

Place was packed!

I spent most of my night hanging out with this bow-tied clown, and we of course had a great time!  Can't wait for March!
